    Its me again lol :p
Was wondering , in cubase, how can you aplay audio effects on different track from virus, with only one virus plug loaded

You see what i mean, one loaded, and with multiple tracks rooted threw diff tracks, and apply audio effects on that tracks?
I cant find any where how to do that :s

I know im a pig to post those questions :p but thx if you can reply

    • Thomas says:

Quick answer: It’s impossible. But in the Virus control you can set the export-channel to “USB2″ or “USB3″ if you connect through USB. You can add effects to all 3 USB outputs – not on individual channels on the Virus.

      • Factor says:

So as i understand, if a wont different sounds with effects i must load new Virus plug? :(
        A bit disapointed..

      • Factor says:

Hey , me again. Bit enoying i know ;)
I found out how to put effects on usb3 outputs. But it seems i cant conect VC several times?! It says “Connect virus ti”…
I realy cant start working with my new gear.. :(

  2. Nick says:

Hi.. I was wondering, who makes the mastering on your tracks? Yourself? If thats the case -how did you learn it? I know this is a thing you can’t learn by yourself without tutorials, books, school or something like that -so i was just interested in how :) .? By the way your new Heatzone EP is fucking SIIIICK!.. I love it :D ..

  3. Factor says:

Hey Thom, i just go my new virus Ti2, and i was wonderinghow you proceed to record you tracks using the unit, because i get latency when using TI2

    Thx ;)

    • Thomas says:

Hi Factor! When you’re experiencing lag or latency, make sure you have selected the correct soundcard in your sequencer. You WILL experience latency if you just use your onboard soundcard.

      • Factor says:

I have an external SC , i havent got any latency even when my virus control is running , but when i chose to use it i have latency.

I’m using Ableton and i heard by virus team that i have to activate the LIVE button in VC, i’ll try it when i get home this evening.

And thx for fast reply ;) nice bass in your last prods =)

        • Thomas says:

Still lagging? Or did it work?

          • Factor says:

Hey thx for still responding, well i use it in usb and when the live button is on i have like 70 ms lateny when playing the preset of virus, or so.

If i get jacks for the output to get thru the mixer will it work better? And btw do you have a link for a video or somthing, to know how to record with it, because i dont realy get the way i have to record, its my first hardware and i dont realy get if i have to record the midi thru another chanel or what..

sory for kinda nooby questions but these things anoye me :s

It’s very kind to do a “Ask me ” section and take care of your fans ;)

          • Factor says:

Ok so i bought cubase 5, and it works without any lag ;) but hard to step up into a new daw without knowing anything or almost in it lol

  4. Pim says:

  6. Erik says:

Hey! I really like your music, it’s great, especially reflection, i just love that melo :D
I’m in to hardstyle producing my self and i’m trying to create my own kicks, bass etc but i got a question – how did you learn to make your own kicks etc? did you just experiment or did you follow guides etc? Btw, do you make your own claps/snares, and if – is there any good vsti to make those sounds in? :)

    Greetings!

    • Thomas says:

Hi Erik, thank you for the kind words ;-) I learnt everything by myself, so yeah, I just experimented. For claps and snares I begin with a basic sample and either combine it with other samples and add some effects or I just add some effects. Much can be achieved by just adding some different effects. I don’t know if there are any good VSTs to make snares and claps.

      Cheers, Thomas.

    Eyy Thomas!

I need an new hardware synth, allready got the Virus TI Snow,
Would the Korg Radias do the job?
Or can you recommend anorther synth?
The style is Hardstyle & Hardcore.

Or but the way, where can I buy the Heatzone tracks?

  8. Blazey says:

    Heeey Thomas!

First of all, all respect to heatzone production, it’s one of my favourite styles.

Ok and here’s my question: What OS do you use? I’m asking you that question because I saw you have 4gigs of ram in your computer and xp doesn’t support more than 2 or 3gigs of ram… so what OS do you use and how does it work along with your audio production?

One more question :P … How much time you needed to figure your virus TI out?

Keep up the good work ;)

    Cheers!

    • Thomas says:

Thanks – I’m glad you like it ;-)

For musicproduction I use Windows XP at the moment. I have 4gb of ram and XP can use 3,25gb. I am waiting for Windows 7 to be released as I don’t want to use Vista for musicproduction (I simply don’t like Windows Vista).

I didn’t figure out my Virus Ti yet.. I can always learn some more :p

      • Blazey says:

and do you ever experience any lags or something in cubase? i’m right in the middle of a hunting on a new computer and i’ll be using it most for the production and i’d really like to know if the performance of your computer is really suitable for audio production :)

also you have to know, i don’t have virus ti yet, so my cpu will be much more laden than yours :)

  9. javier says:

hello i from chile, your melodies are awesome men =)!
i am studying music production…and i want to buy a virus.
but my problem is who is better a virus b/c/ti. becose
alot of person have a virus ti and they dont know to use it.
and i like the sound of the pitcher and noisecontrollers.

    help me please. =)

    abrazos.
    javier.

    • Thomas says:

Personally I prefer the Virus Ti. It is so easy to use right out of the box. Easy setup and easy to handle. Some people think the Ti sounds a bit metallic in the top-end frequencies and therefore prefer the Virus B e.g.. That’s a huge mistake because you can actually get the Ti to sound the same in the top-end by simply using the audio-output instead of using the USB-connector for sound ;-)

  10. DJ John says:

Do you regret making the adult movie “boys at the beach” with Rocco?

  11. Michael says:

    Hi Thomas..

Nice too see you have listet which software you use.. Very helpfull to get an insight in a proffesional studio. I don’t see any drum synths or anything. What do you make your kicks with ?

    Hope to get an answer..

    You rock :P ..

    • Thomas says:

      Hello there Michael,

I use different kinds of plugins to create my kick. Creating kicks in hardstyle is a well-kept secret as it’s the most important part of a good hardstyle track along with the leadsynth. I don’t use just 1 synth for my kicks – I use all kinds of synths; Both my Virus Ti, z3ta+, NI FM8, NI Massive, Hydra, etc.. I usually vary my selection of synths in each track, so I always do something new.

    • Michael says:

So you don’t use a drum machine or samples for your kicks?. Hmm. As far as i know there aren’t any real good hardstyle kicks, or drum samples in any of theese softwares (haven’t tried z3ta (i use mac)? Maybe the virus, but i haven’t heard all its presets. Do you use a standard kick and use a lot of filters on it to make it more roughf and powerfull (EQ,compressor and so on)? I know a bass is also very important for the kick to sound nice (depending which kick sound you want). I am tired of using samples so i would love to get an nice answer from you :) . I know that making it is a secret, and if you won’t answer my questions and so on a hint would be nice..

Thanks for your first answer and the quick posting. It is nice to get some help, and it is nice not to be ignored when you write..

      • Thomas says:

No, I don’t use any drummachines and I don’t use any kind of samples or sample-cd’s for my kicks and basslines – I do them all by myself. I prefer making everything myself so I always start from scratch not using presets/templates. It’s difficult to tell you how to make kicks with synths, but you should search for kick tutorials on YouTube. You’ll find plenty :-)

        • Michael says:

I can only find stupid fruity loops videos which i can’t use at all :) . I’ll try to find a way. Thanks again..

-If you sometime feel like trying to tell it or post a video or anything, just do it :) ..

  12. Pepi says:

HEllo thomas, my name is pepijn and i wanted to say u make excellent music, I hope to see u spin live soon with ur friend DJ negro!!!

  13. Sebastian says:

When will you release “Snap Back”? It’s been a long time since you updated that post about that track :( . And where can i found songs from you like “Thomas Ulstrup – Reaction”?

    • Thomas says:

“Snap Back” will be released as soon as everything is worked out with the label. The Paul Ercossa remix is almost done. You should be able to find my tracks on download shops like Beatport, Junodownload, DanceTunes, etc..

  14. Marc says:

    Hi Thomas,

Are there several songs planned with “Frequencerz” some day?
The old Heatzone tracks are much better as the new ones – in my opinion!
    Sorry for my hard words.
I hope you will find back to your old “style”

    • Thomas says:

Hi there Marc. I’m afraid I don’t know exactly what you mean. There are no such thing as “old Heatzone tracks”. Heatzone is a brand new project – we only had one release before “Bungiebox”.

As for right now, there are no tracks planned with Frequencerz. But who knows ;-)

  15. morad //The Arrivalz says:

thomas may i have a question, you are great with your heatzone projects :)
but i have a question wich software you use on your computer cubase or fruity loops.
would be great if i ask you some stuff like that,do you also make a performance in the netherlands with your friend nego :)

  16. Finn says:

Can we expect another collaboration with Zatox some day?
    Grtz

    • Thomas says:

Maybe. We have nothing planned or anything in the making yet, but it’s definitely a possibility. For now I/we just focus on the Heatzone-project.

  17. Dennis says:

    Are you working with Headzone?

uhm..can you give me a few tips for producing hardstyle?^^
    byebye :)

    • Thomas says:

You can ask whatever you want and I will do my best to answer :-)
And yes, I’m part of Heatzone together with my friend Nego.

      • Dennis says:

can you give me a tip which plugin is the best for hardstyle melodies?..Z3ta?

        • Thomas says:

There are many good VSTs, really. Z3ta+ is good, but you would also want to check out FabFilter Twin or Native Instruments Massive – great great great softsynths!

  18. Karbowiak says:
